Allan explains Ancelotti reunion wasn’t the only reason he moved to Everton
Brazilian midfielder Allan has explained that ‘the project’ was one of the main reasons for him choosing to join Everton this summer.
The 29-year-old moved to Goodison Park from Napoli and reunited with former coach Carlo Ancelotti.
But, in an online Q&A, Allan explained that it wasn’t just the prospect of working with Ancelotti again that convinced him to move to Merseyside.
He said, “When you look at a club the size of Everton, training every day with Carlo Ancelotti, the project the club has, the stadium – the club is thinking really big.
“When the opportunity came to join it was not something I had to think twice about. I spoke with my family and I saw this would be the perfect club for me to progress as a footballer and for us as a family. It was absolutely the right choice. It’s a great club.”
Everton’s new Bramley-Moore Dock based stadium is already paying dividends and it is clear to see how the new venue will help in attracting the world’s finest players.
Allan also stated that the club is ‘thinking big’ which was clear with the appointment of a world-class coach like Ancelotti.
With the new stadium on the way and big-name signings like Allan and James Rodriguez joining the club recently, it looks like the club are really pushing on and are trying to establish the Toffees as a force in English football.
It looked as if those moves were paying off in the short term after Everton’s blistering start to the season but after three league defeats in a row, the Toffees have found themselves sliding down the table.
Allan has only missed one Premier League game this season and he should start in the Toffees’ next outing against Fulham which is increasingly looking like a must-win game.
In other Everton news, Lucas Digne says the Toffees are targeting a top-four finish this season.
