Exclusive: Campbell hails Everton partnership that created ‘Fantastic’ goal v Fulham

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has hailed the partnership of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison as the two Everton forwards combined for the Toffees’ opener against Fulham on Sunday.

Richarlison marked his return to the Everton side with an assist inside the opening minute as he provided Calvert-Lewin with an excellent pass and the England striker couldn’t miss as he scored in the Toffees’ 3-2 win.

Campbell has suggested that opposing defences will struggle with the partnership between the two forwards this season especially as they have to also defend against James Rodriguez.

Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said: “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: When Richarlison is there, the defence has to be accountable for Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez.

“So whenever Richarlison is doing his thing, you can just see Calvert-Lewin getting in the spot where he needs to be.

“What a fantastic opener, great play by Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin is there to stick the ball away and set Everton on their way to a good win.”

Richarlison missed several chances to score himself at Craven Cottage but ultimately it didn’t matter as the Toffees hung on to claim all three points despite a nervy end to the game.

The Toffees returned to winning ways after losing three consecutive league games without Richarlison in the side.

Having the Brazilian back and available for selection makes Everton a much stronger side and his developing partnership with Calvert-Lewin should have all Toffees fans excited.

Everton face a tricky December with Premier League games against Chelsea and Leicester before a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United.

Having Richarlison available for those games will increase the Toffees’ chances of securing important wins as Carlo Ancelotti look to get his side’s season back on track.

In other Everton news, we believe Ancelotti’s new system could reinvigorate the Toffees’ season.
