Everton set to welcome back Jean-Philippe Gbamin in major injury boost

Carlo Ancelotti has provided a major injury boost for Everton as he expects Jean-Philippe Gbamin to available in ‘a few days’.

Gbamin has suffered horribly with injuries since he arrived at Goodison Park last summer and he has only made two Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

It seems as though the midfielder will soon be available for selection as Ancelotti provided an injury update on his squad.

Ancelotti is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying, “It is true that we lost Fabian [Delph], we have [Lucas] Digne out but we have [Seamus] Coleman that can recover soon, we have Gbamin and I think he will be back in a few days.”

It is fair to say that Gbamin will need some time to get back to full match fitness after not playing football for well over a year but his return will come as a boost to Everton.

Toffees fans will be excited to finally see the midfielder in action but he will have a tough time breaking into Ancelotti’s squad.

The Italian boss assembled his own midfield this summer and brought Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure to the club in an effort to fix what was seen as a problem area of the Everton squad.

Gbamin has never had the chance to show Ancelotti what he can do as he was signed by Marco Silva and hasn’t had much of an opportunity to even train with his new manager.

But, if nothing else, Gbamin’s availability will provide Everton with more depth in midfield and it is likely that the 25-year-old will initially be fighting with Gylfi Sigurdsson for a spot on the Toffees bench.

Having Gbamin back can only be good news and Everton fans will look forward to seeing their man in action once he is fully fit.

In other Everton news, Danny Murphy has criticised Ancelotti following the Toffees’ draw with Burnley last weekend.
