‘You never know’ – Moise Kean coy about long-term future at Everton

Moise Kean has hit the ground running since joining Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan from Everton in October.

The 20-year-old striker, who managed just six starts for the Toffees in his debut season in the Premier League last term, has scored seven times in 12 outings for PSG, starting every single Ligue 1 match he’s been available to play in.

As you would expect from a young player who’s playing every week and scoring goals regularly for one of Europe’s top clubs, Kean is quite happy in Paris.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s abandoned clash against Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday, the Italian forward was asked about what the future holds for him in the French capital.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Kean said: “I am very happy with my performance with PSG. It’s a very good thing to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“I am focused on bringing good results. For the future, we’ll see, you never know.”

It’s easy to forget that Kean is still a very young player because when he arrived at Goodison Park for up to £27.5million from Juventus last year, he arrived as an Italy international who had been playing regularly for the Serie A giants.

For one reason or another, he struggled in his debut season on Merseyside but to see him do so well at PSG suggests that Everton still have a very good prospect on their hands.

It will be up to Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands to decide what the future should hold for Kean past the end of this season.

PSG have no option to sign Kean permanently when his loan deal expires but Fabrizio Romano reported on the CalcioMercato website last month that the Ligue 1 club – and Kean’s former team Juventus – want to buy the 20-year-old next summer.

Romano did add that Ancelotti wants to see Kean stay at Goodison and with the striker contracted to the Toffees until 2024, his future on Merseyside is secure.

However, Kean’s clearly loving life at PSG.

He’s almost guaranteed silverware, he’s playing alongside some of the best players in the world in the Champions League and getting regular game-time.

If you were him, would you want to go back to Everton and play second-fiddle to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a team that’s trying to qualify for the Europa League?

It would not shock us if Kean pushes for an exit next year if PSG – or even Juve – launch a bid to sign him permanently.
