Danny Murphy suggests Everton should target Tottenham’s Dele Alli

Danny Murphy has suggested that Everton should target Tottenham Hotspur outcast Dele Alli when the transfer window opens.

Alli hasn’t been starting many games this season under Jose Mourinho and there has been a suggestion that the England international may leave Spurs in the near future.

Murphy, speaking on TalkSPORT, claimed that the Toffees should target Alli as he would make Everton’s attack ‘very appealing’.

He said, “If you throw Dele Alli at his best into the mix with Richarlison, James and Calvert-Lewin that starts to sound very appealing.

“Obviously, Everton’s problems recently have been defensively but let’s look at it from an attacking point of view, what does Alli bring you when he’s at it?

“Tremendous movement off the ball, good finisher, good awareness in the box, assists were high in his first few seasons for Tottenham. I think it would be good business for Everton.”

Alli only has 71 minutes of Premier League football under his belt this season as Mourinho has been selecting the 24-year-old in his Europa League squads.

He yet to complete a 90-minute match this season however as it seems the Spurs boss has not been impressed with Alli this term.

Everyone knows the ability that Alli possesses but there are doubts over both his fitness and his attitude and any club who signs him would be taking a risk. When Alli is firing on all cylinders he is unplayable and we saw that in the early stages of Mourinho’s reign at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The biggest stumbling block would be the fee and as Alli is still a young English talent he is sure to fetch an extortionate amount of money.

It is unlikely that the Toffees would splash out so much money on Alli but there is no doubting that the thought of adding him to an already talented Toffees attack is mouth-watering.
