Carlo Ancelotti shares injury update on Richarlison & Allan after Everton win v Leicester
Carlo Ancelotti has delivered an injury update on Everton duo Allan and Richarlison after the 2-0 win over Leicester on Wednesday.
The midfielder was stretchered off at the King Power after his hamstring appeared to give way when chasing the Foxes in a counter-attack.
Richarlison’s blow wasn’t as serious, and the strapping applied to his wrist was simply a precaution in the second half of the win.
Ancelotti shared an update after the game, responding to claims that Everton will be without Allan for the foreseeable future.
“We have to check on him in a few days and then we will see how long [he will be out],” he told the Liverpool Echo.
The Toffees boss was much more straight forward regarding Richarlison, and simply claimed that there was “no problem” with Richarlison.
That is a big positive, with important games against the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United coming up in December.
Having Allan out long-term would be a huge blow for the Toffees.
The Brazilian international was the marquee signing this summer alongside James Rodriguez and has not let Ancelotti down once.
No Everton player has averaged more tackles per game than the South American according to WhoScored, and his relentless energy in midfield has delivered a new-found solidness.
Andre Gomes hasn’t put a foot wrong either, but he doesn’t bring the same levels of energy or defensive know-how that Allan does, and that could leave the Toffees fragile.
We cross our fingers that it isn’t as big a blow as once though.
