‘Deal to be done’ – Exclusive: Kevin Campbell tips Bolasie to leave Everton in January
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell believes that Yannick Bolasie’s time is up at Everton and that a deal could be done in January that would see the winger leave Goodison Park.
Bolasie looks set to move on in the near future with his contract expiring in the summer and not featuring for the Toffees since 2018.
Campbell believes that it is sad that Bolasie never made it at Everton but reiterated that this can happen in football.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “It’s a difficult thing that happens sometimes where a transfer happens and it doesn’t quite work out for the player.
“Bolasie is a good player but he just never really worked out. I’m not too sure on what Everton are going to do. I don’t know if they’re going to send him out on loan because on loan either some or all of his wages get taken up.
“Or if they just do a deal and he gets transferred in January, that’s fine. It’s sad that he didn’t quite work out but there’s a deal to be done somewhere.”
Bolasie’s time at Goodison Park has been severely hampered by serious injury. Not long after he joined the club in 2016 he sustained a blow to his right anterior cruciate ligament which kept him out of action for just over a year.
Following this major injury, the winger never had another chance at establishing himself as a first-team player and was continuously loaned out as he was deemed surplus to requirements at Goodison Park.
Bolasie was a popular figure at Everton and Crystal Palace before that due to his skills and tricks that he would regularly use to bamboozle Premier League defenders.
His contract is due to expire in the summer so the Toffees will do well to offload him in January and recoup some of the fee they paid for the winger.
In other Everton news, we believe that Carlo Ancelotti cannot afford to rest Dominic Calvert-Lewin over the festive period.
