Everton Super Fans rate Toffees’ chances against Manchester City
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.
Everton welcome Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to Goodison Park on Monday night as the Toffees look to secure a fifth successive league win.
Less than 48 hours before Monday’s game, Carlo Ancelotti’s men grabbed a late win against Sheffield United in a result that fired the Toffees up to second in the Premier League table.
This left the Italian fending off questions about his side’s title credentials and other results will have done no damage to the theory that Everton are in fact title contenders.
Liverpool and Tottenham both drew on Sunday which means that the Toffees can move level with their Merseyside rivals with a win over Manchester City.
This potential parity would probably only last a few days before Liverpool face a dire Newcastle United side but the fact that Everton are in the mix with half of the season gone is an incredible achievement.
The Toffees face a tough test against the Citizens on Monday night and after a less than convincing win against relegation-threatened Sheffield United, some fans aren’t confident of another win

There seems to be a lack of confidence due to two key reasons.
Manchester City are a quality side even if they haven’t been at their best this season and Ancelotti’s players will no doubt be tired after only playing two days ago.
On a positive note, City are in the same boat as they played Newcastle on boxing day but they do have an absurdly large and talented squad to choose from.
City will move level on points with the Toffees if they secure a win at Goodison Park so it is imperative that Everton don’t lose.
A draw would be an acceptable result and a win would be unbelievable, fingers crossed the right Everton side shows up.
