‘Fantastic’ – Gylfi Sigurdsson showers Carlo Ancelotti in praise after Everton milestone

Everton playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson has hailed Carlo Ancelotti and his “fantastic” impact since arriving in Merseyside.

The Italian has just reached his one-year milestone at Goodison Park and has guided the Toffees to a near-perfect start in the Premier League this season.

Sigurdsson has been one of those players who has benefitted from his arrival and has even been handed the captain’s armband in recent weeks.

Speaking to the official website, Sigurdsson admitted that he has been blown away by the impact Ancelotti has made at Goodison Park this year.

“I’ve enjoyed working with the manager a lot,” he said.

“Man-to-man, he’s fantastic, dealing with different kinds of situations. He is very calm, probably because he has seen it all before and knows exactly what to do.

“I think everyone agrees he is a fantastic manager. All the players feel very comfortable with him on and off the pitch.”

Sigurdsson has been one of the biggest beneficiaries this past year.

The Icelandic international has started the past four games, and has scored twice and delivered an assist as he thrives in the absence of Allan.

Ancelotti has handed the 31-year-old a free-roaming role and looking at his heat map, he is taking full advantage of that.

Ancelotti is a master of getting the best out of players, and another shining example of that is the recent upturn in the fortunes of Alex Iwobi.

The Toffees have spent good money over the summer, but Ancelotti has also done this with the majority of the same squad that has been here for years, and he deserves every ounce of praise he is receiving.
