Neil Warnock admits he wants to sign Everton outcast Yannick Bolasie
Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock has stated his interest in signing Yannick Bolasie from Everton in the upcoming transfer window.
Bolasie hasn’t played for Everton since 2018 and as it stands he is not in the plans of Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Warnock has confirmed that he is a player that Boro have looked at.
Warnock is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying, “He’s (Bolasie) one of the names mentioned, and we are looking for a wide player that can contribute to some goals as well.
“He’s one of those, and I obviously know him from my Palace days. I wouldn’t write him off, but at the same time, I wouldn’t say that he’s definitely going to be here either.”
It would be best for all parties if Bolasie was allowed to leave in January as he is eating into the wage budget and offering the club nothing.
There isn’t even a place available as back up for Bolasie as the Toffees are blessed with quality wide players.
Richarlison, James Rodriguez, Bernard, Alex Iwobi and even youngster Anthony Gordon sit ahead of Bolasie in the pecking order at Goodison Park.
In reality, it is probably a stretch to suggest that Bolasie is even on the pecking order after not featuring for the club over the better part of three years.
Injuries ruined Bolasie’s Everton career and he just never picked up where he left off at Crystal Palace where he was one of the hottest talents in the Premier League.
His tricks and skills made him a likeable character but unfortunately failed to perform on the pitch on a regular basis.
Hopefully, Bolasie can find a new club where he can get regular football in the near future.
