‘Everton have to win’ – Exclusive: Campbell predicts result of Toffees clash v West Ham

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell believes that Everton will win a fifth successive Premier League game when they take on West Ham on New Year’s Day.

The former Toffees captain is backing Carlo Ancelotti’s side to win 3-1 against a Hammers team that has impressed this season.

Campbell believes that the Toffees’ momentum will see them through the game that sees David Moyes return to his former club.

Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Everton have to win this game. They have to, it’s such an important game.

“I know West Ham have been going well but they have to hit the buffers sometime. Everton have the momentum behind them.

“They’ll be well-rested and you’d expect them to go for the jugular. 3-1 Everton.”

Everton find themselves fighting at the top end of the table once more after recovering from a poor run of form through November.

Of course, the Toffees have missed the chance to already secure that fifth win in a row after their game against Manchester City was postponed at City’s request.

This means that Ancelotti’s side has had an unexpected break going into the club’s first fixture of 2021.

The Hammers played two games in quick succession after Christmas as they drew against Brighton and Southampton.

It wouldn’t be fair to say that the wheels have come off for the Irons following their impressive start to the season but their recent form will be a concern for Moyes.

Hopefully, the Toffees can take advantage of their extra rest and keep pace with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League with another win.

In other Everton news, Rio Ferdinand has detailed the problem that the Toffees face in the upcoming transfer window.
