View: Ancelotti must hook Bernard as he fails to take his chance
Everton attacker Bernard may find his place in the team at risk after he failed to take his chance to shine against West Ham.
With Richarilson returning to fitness and Alex Iwobi out of the game, Bernard lined up on the left for Everton, with his fellow countryman on the right.
It was an opportunity to impress Carlo Ancelotti, with Richarlison likely to reclaim his rightful place on the left when Iwobi returns to the side.
However, Bernard failed to take that chance and turned in what was a disappointing display, as the Toffees succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat.
As per WhoScored, the Brazilian was Everton’s joint-worst performer on the night, alongside Seamus Coleman.
Bernard recorded a match rating of just 6.2, his lowest of the season so far.
He was on the pitch for just over an hour before being hooked in a double substitution and in that time he did little to impress.
According to Wyscout, Bernard failed to deliver a single accurate cross from those he attempted and had a passing accuracy rate of just 67%.
The Brazilian only managed two passes into the final third against West Ham – a sizeable decrease from the seven he has averaged this season.
Bernard simply could not compete on the night, winning just 21 per cent of his duels and also giving the ball away more times (10) than he has done in any previous Premier League appearance this season.
With Richarilson coming back into the side, it would not be a huge shock to see the former Watford man return to the left when Everton meet Wolves in their next Premier League fixture.
In other Everton news, a permanent move to sign Robin Olsen would be a smart decision from Everton
