Everton Super Fans discuss prioritising FA Cup over PL finish
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.
Everton welcome Championship strugglers Rotherham to Goodison Park on Saturday as the club’s FA Cup campaign gets underway.
The Toffees last won the competition in 1995 and Evertonians are no doubt keen to see their side end their trophy drought.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side face what looks to be an easy win on paper against the Millers but the players will be aware that if they don’t turn up then a cup shock could be on the cards.
This is the last thing Ancelotti will want after his side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup just a few weeks ago by Manchester United.
The Italian has a chance to rest key players against Rotherham but some of our Super Fans believe that Ancelotti should play his full-strength team.
With Everton doing so well in the league it is right to ask the question, should the Toffees target a cup or a strong Premier League finish?
We posed this question to our Super Fans and many asked ‘why can’t we target both?’.
Here is what our panel of Everton Super Fans think about prioritising the FA Cup.

At this stage of the season, Ancelotti can get away with not playing his full-strength team in the FA Cup.
Later down the line though, Everton may face harder teams while still fighting for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
At that point, the Italian will have to make a call over how he deploys his players during what will already be a packed schedule.
Hopefully the Toffees will still be in the FA Cup when this becomes a real issue as many Evertonians would do anything to see their side win a domestic trophy.
In other Everton news, Kevin Campbell has claimed that the Toffees will be active in the January transfer market.
