‘Great business’ – Exclusive: Campbell delivers verdict on Kean’s reported Everton exit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell believes that Moise Kean’s time at Everton is over now that PSG are reportedly interested in signing the forward.
Last week Sky Sports reported that the French champions want to sign Kean on a permanent deal after impressing this season while on loan.
Campbell believes that the Toffees should cut their losses with Kean, even though the club looks set to make a profit from his sale.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think his ship has sailed at Everton. He’s gone out there and proved that he can score and he’s looked very comfortable at PSG.
“When he wasn’t even starting at Everton he’s gone there, started and started to score goals.
“Realistically, he’ll want to stay there and keep it going and if Everton can get more than they spent then it’s great business.”
Kean has certainly looked a more competent striker this season compared to his debut term in England.
This could simply be down to the fact that Ligue 1 is a much less competitive division than the Premier League and most of Everton’s players would probably perform better when surrounded by Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Frankly, it shouldn’t matter why PSG want Kean, Everton should take the money and run as the Italian has shown himself to be a poor Premier League player at best.
The decision to sell Kean could come back to bite the Toffees in the future if he kicks on and becomes a top striker at PSG.
But looking at his goal record, no one can really blame Everton for letting this particular flop move on.
The Toffees could have the chance to reinvest this money in January as the club may look to bring in more attacking talent to replace Kean.
In other Everton news, Kevin Campbell suggests Ancelotti must give one player time to hit top form again.
