‘The issue is…’ – Sky Sports share update on PSG’s hunt for Everton striker Kean
French football journalist Jonathan Johnson has claimed that Moise Kean’s good form is causing an issue for PSG as they try to sign the forward from Everton.
Kean moved to Paris in the summer on a year-long loan deal but now the French champions want to make the Italian’s move permanent.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Johnson also claimed that as there was no pre-agreed fee for Kean included in the loan deal it is hard for the two clubs to agree on a price.
He said, “He’s definitely a player that PSG would like to keep around if at all possible, particularly as Mauro Icardi is not back to full fitness.
“The issue is that there is no pre-agreed amount in the contract for PSG to activate at the end of the season.
“With Kean being in such good form and continuing to score, it makes it very difficult for PSG to hammer down a price with Everton who will possibly be looking to turn a profit on the fee they paid just a couple of years ago.”
Kean’s stock has only risen since he arrived at Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window.
He has also impressed new boss Mauricio Pochettino, scoring a goal in each of the former Tottenham manager’s first two games in charge.
As the Italian becomes more important for PSG, Everton’s valuation of their young striker continues to rise.
This is the club’s right as with no pre-agreed fee for Kean the club is free to demand exactly what they think the forward is worth.
Stumping up the money isn’t too much of an issue for PSG but they may not want to overpay or be held to ransom over Kean.
The Toffees have the right to demand whatever they want for their players and if Kean continues to score at his current rate for the rest of the season then any potential fee will continue to climb.
