‘Unsung hero’, ‘MOTM’ – Some Everton fans wowed by Michael Keane performance v Wolves
Everton defender Michael Keane put in a Man of the Match performance away to Wolves on Tuesday night and it did not go unnoticed fans.
Toffees supporters on Twitter were quick to hail the England international, who scored the winner for the visitors in the second half.
Lining up without a recognised striker, Everton came into the game knowing that they would have to be at their best, despite Wolves’ poor form of late.
Alex Iwobi gave Carlo Ancelotti’s men the lead before Ruben Neves equalised for the home side.
The winning goal did not come until late on, with Keane towering above the Wolves defenders to send a powerful header into the back of the net with just under minutes to play.
The header was Keane’s fifth goal in all competitions this season, with the former Burnley man proving to be a serious threat in the final third.
The goal rounded off what was a stellar performance from Keane, who was not only a threat in the final third but on the ball too.
According to Wyscout, Keane’s pass accuracy rate against Wolves was a stunning 98 per cent, while he did not give away a single foul throughout the game.
It was a valuable victory for Everton and one that lifted them into the top four of the Premier League.
After 17 games played, Ancelotti’s men only sit a point behind Liverpool in second and four behind league leaders Manchester United.
These Everton fans took to social media after the game to hail their defender, with some claiming he is the best English centre-back around at the moment.
