‘Ran the game’, ‘World class’ – Everton Super Fans pick MOTM from Sheff Wed win

Everton progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday night.

Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Yerry Mina secured the Blues’ place in the fifth round where a tie against either Tottenham or Wycombe Wanderers awaits.

It was a much-improved performance compared to the laboured win against Rotherham in round three as a strong Toffees side easily saw off the Championship strugglers.

There were plenty of positives to take as DCL recovered his goalscoring touch and James Rodriguez ran the show from midfield, picking up two assists.

Carlo Ancelotti looks to be taking the FA Cup seriously this season which bodes well ahead of what will probably be a tricky home tie against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.

The win also gives the Blues confidence ahead of a huge Premier League midweek clash against Leicester City on Wednesday.

We asked our panel of Super Fans who they thought the man of the match was from Sunday’s game and there was one overwhelming answer.

Rodriguez was simply brilliant against the Owls though many people have pointed out that he was playing against poor opposition on Sunday.

Simply put, we don’t care.

It may not have been a hard game for Ancelotti’s side but it was very important as we look to end our silverware drought.

Quality players step forward in important matches and James certainly delivered against Sheffield Wednesday.

If he continues this form into the game against Leicester on Wednesday then we will have a fantastic chance of winning.

Once again the Colombian showed why he is already one of the best bargains in the history of Everton football club.

Long may his form continue.
