Ancelotti shares Everton injury boost ahead of Leicester clash
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has provided Evertonians with a major injury boost ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Leicester.
Alex Iwobi and Lucas Digne will both be available for selection after not being included in the matchday squad for the FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Both players were exceptional in the Blues’ last league game against Wolves as Iwobi scored Everton’s first in the 2-1 victory.
Speaking during Tuesday’s press conference, Ancelotti also confirmed that Fabian Delph, Allan, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Niels Nkounkou will miss Wednesday’s game.
There was no update on how long any of these injured players will remain on the sidelines but having Iwobi and Digne back will soften the blow of still missing a key player like Allan.
Questions will now turn to where both players may play against Leicester as The Professor looks to manufacture another impressive win against a good side.
Iwobi and Digne both played in more advanced roles against Wolves with the Nigerian often having to deputise as a defender while the Frenchman was sidelined.
Digne has been allowed to push higher up the pitch with Ben Godfrey doing a sterling job as a makeshift left-back.
This option Ancelotti now has will only help to confuse Brendan Rodgers as he tries to predict what team will line up against his side at Goodison Park.
This is quite the change from a few weeks ago when the boss has very little room to mix up his team due to the number of injuries that were hampering the squad.
We are all hoping for another big win in the league and the return of these key players could really boost our chances.
