Everton yet to receive firm offer for Jonjoe Kenny – report
Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny could still exit Goodison Park this month with fellow Premier League side Burnley reportedly interested.
According to a report by the Echo, Sean Dyche’s side remain keen on the defender and are confident they will be able to get a transfer sorted before the deadline. However, they are yet to make a firm offer.
Kenny, who spent last season on loan at Schalke, has fallen down the pecking order under boss Carlo Ancelotti and is keen for a move to get more minutes.
The right-back played 31 times last season in the Bundesliga, scoring once. He’s also had spells with Wigan Athletic and Oxford United, but struggled to keep a place in the side with the Toffees.
Kenny, 23, featured for the last fourteen minutes of Everton’s 3-0 defeat of Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.
He is likely to be in the squad for Leicester due to injuries but it is felt beyond that his future could be elsewhere.
Burnley will have until 11 pm on Monday to get a deal sorted if they wish to take the Englishman to Turf Moor.
The hunt for a right-back continues
The potential departure of Kenny highlights once more the issues Everton are having at right-back.
As wonderful a servant Seamus Coleman has been to the Toffees, the club will be keen to find a long-term replacement for him soon as he nears the end of his playing career.
Most recently the solution has been to play centre-half Mason Holgate, but that fails to solve the issue forever.
Djibril Sidibe looked to be a good signing last season. The fullback joined on a season-long loan from Monaco. He registered four assists and featured 25 times in the Premier League.
He averaged 78.9% of successful passes over the season [Wyscout], with 58.1% successful dribble attempts. Sidibe also averaged 4.68 interceptions per game.
He was allowed to return to Monaco after his loan at the end of the campaign. Carlo Ancelotti will surely be in the market for right-back cover it Kenny is allowed to depart.
