Everton winger set to leave the club on loan in the coming days – report

Everton forward Anthony Gordon looks set to exit Goodison Park this month as a number of Championship clubs are reportedly keen to take him on loan.

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers, who tweeted on Thursday that Preston North End are linked with the young attacker.

Gordon, 19, has been limited to little game time this season, mainly due to the emergence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He made his debut for the Toffees in January 2020, coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with West Ham. Gordon’s featured just thirteen times in the league since then.

The winger has played a total of 323 minutes this campaign in the league, FA and Carabao cups combined. He started back to back Carabao cup games to Salford and Fleetwood in September, assisting in both.

Gordon would definitely benefit from some first-team football rather than sitting on the bench at Goodison for the remainder of the season, with Preston looking the likely suitors.

Everton

The Lilywhites are having a mediocre season, currently 11th in the Championship on 36 points. They’ve won two of their last five games and are currently six points off of the playoff spots.

Despite their inconsistencies, they’re the seventh-highest goalscorers in the league. Gordon could definitely benefit from joining a team with confidence in front of goal.

It could prove to be a positive move for the winger, who at the moment has to compete with some serious talent for a place in the squad.

The likes of Richarlison, James Rodriguez and Alex Iwobi are all full internationals for the respective countries and signed for big money.

Everton

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are just two points outside the top four at the moment with 18 matches played.

They’ll look to continue their strong form with fixtures coming up against Newcastle and Leeds United.
