‘Much more comfortable’ – Exclusive: Campbell hails Mina’s Everton improvement
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has hailed Yerry Mina’s improvement this season as he has made himself a vital part of the Everton defence.
Mina has only missed two Premier League games this season as he has shown a drastic improvement over the past few months.
Campbell believes that there are numerous reasons for Mina’s improvement and praised the job the Colombian has been doing.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think Mina’s improved because better players have come in.
“Better players, more protection and he’s starting to build an understanding with his defence. There have been times when he’s had injuries and not had the greatest of times.
“He’s been fit, he’s been playing, he’s forged a good partnership with Michael Keane. He seems to be much more comfortable with Seamus Coleman next to him.
“He’s done a good job and he’s marshalled that defence well as the most experienced one there.”
Mina was criticised earlier in the season after he made a few errors at vital points in games, most notably nearly handing Fulham an undeserved draw at Craven Cottage after failing to clear his lines.
On the whole, he has been pretty solid though Keano may be stealing the headlines with his impressive performances.
Mina even has three goals to his name this term as he most recently scored a header in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.
If the Colombian continues to improve then he will become an undroppable member of Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
He faces a big second half of the season with Everton looking to finish strongly, hopefully, he can help us achieve big things this year.
In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano has dealt the Blues a deadline day transfer blow.
