Man Utd share injury update ahead of Everton clash, key man could miss out
Edinson Cavani is an injury doubt for Manchester United’s game against Everton this weekend as the Red Devils shared an injury update.
Cavani was subbed off in this week’s 9-0 demolition of Southampton and he may not make the squad to face Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The Uruguayan has already scored against the Blues this season so his potential absence will be a boost for Everton.
Manchester United shared an injury update on their striker and said that they would check on the fitness of Cavani ahead of the tie.
It was explained that the striker has an ankle injury and the club could not confirm if he would make the game.
He had to go off on Tuesday night with his injury so it is potentially unlikely that he will be able to recover in time for the game on Saturday.
Cavani has had his fair few run-ins with us already this season.
He has scored two goals against us, one in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup with a flashpoint coming in that second game.
Cavani escaped further punishment for lashing out at Yerry Mina as he grabbed the Colombian round the throat off the ball.
The Uruguayan was booked for the incident which meant that he could not be punished after the game.
His goalscoring record against us is a cause for concern but we’ve seen Mina already have issues with another forward this season.
He was right on Callum Wilson’s case last week as he went down any time the Newcastle forward came near him following an altercation between the two in the return fixture earlier this season.
We don’t need our defender getting caught up in a personal battle during an important game.
We wait to see who lines up at Old Trafford, with Cavani or without him it will be a challenge to get a positive result.
In other Everton news, this defender put in a fantastic display in the win at Leeds.
