Everton youngster Rafael Garcia back in action after 19-month injury lay-off

Everton striker Rafael Garcia has returned from an anterior cruciate injury after spending 19 months on the sidelines.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, 18-year-old Garcia came off the bench in the 73rd minute of the Under-18s’ 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday at Finch Farm.

The youngster joined from Fulham in 2017. He signed his first pro contract with the Toffees in October 2019 but is yet to feature in the first team.

He put pen to paper on a deal until 2022, despite just suffering the nasty injury.

More good news

The news of Garcia returning to the youth set up tops off a very good week for the squad as a whole. After a woeful home display against Newcastle, Ancelotti’s side went to Elland Road and picked up all three points.

This was followed up by a good team performance at Old Trafford. The Toffees came from behind and stole a point with the last kick of the game.

Goals from Dominic Clavert-Lewin in the last two games have won four points. If we’re to win our two games in hand, we could go ahead of Liverpool in fourth.

Its excellent news to have our main attackers finding the net. James Rodriguez also broke his duck away from Gooidosn by finding the net against Manchester United.

Hopefully with a run of games, the youngster Garcia can find some form and maybe push towards the first team next season. He’s a highly rated prospect at the club and it’s good to see him return.

He’ll be looking at the all firing front line in the first team and trying to emulate their form in the youth ranks.
