Everton ready to offer £13.1m to land Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot – report
Everton are ready to offer Juventus £13.1million in order to land midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer transfer window, according to TuttoJuve.
The Toffees have frequently been linked with a move for the Frenchman over the past 12 months, with Corriere dello Sport reporting early last month that Carlo Ancelotti had maintained an interest in securing his signature.
Now, TuttoJuve, a sister site of TuttoMercatoWeb, claim that Everton are ready to act upon their interest in the summer, though the Turin-based club would prefer the Blues meet their valuation of £21.8million.
However, the Italian news outlet claims that Ancelotti could hope to strike a deal for less than Juventus want for the 25-year old, with the Serie A giants likely to sanction a deal in order to get Rabiot’s high salary off the wage bill.
Juventus would also still make a sizeable profit if they sold the midfielder for £13.1million, making the capital gain of such a deal worth pursuing.
Strength in depth
With Champions League qualification seemingly operating as the ultimate ambition for Ancelotti’s Everton, Rabiot would certainly appear to be the calibre of signing that would excite Evertonians.
The Toffees have somewhat suffered this season through injuries in the midfield department, putting a strain on a handful of players due the club’s lack of depth in that area of the field.
Allan and Fabian Delph have both fallen to injury setbacks this season, while JP Gbamin hasn’t been seen in an Everton shirt since suffering the first of many injuries against Watford in August 2019.
Should Everton harbour ambitions beyond their current station in the Premier League, the club could look to add players to the squad who possess first-hand Champions League experience, and Rabiot would certainly add some of that.
Rabiot has played five times in the Champions League for the defending Seria A champions this season, while he has also been a domestic regular, featuring 18 times in the league for the Bianconeri.
Should Everton make a formal approach for the former PSG man in the summer it would show at the very least that the club are heading in the right direction by approaching a higher calibre of reinforcement.
In other Everton news, Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out Dominic Calvert-Lewin to face Manchester City ahead of the fixture at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening.
