Report – Everton eye Besiktas swap involving Cenk Tosun
Everton are interested in bringing Besiktas forward Cyle Larin to Goodison Park as part of a swap deal involving Cenk Tosun, according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
The 29-year old Turkey international joined Besiktas on a short-term loan deal in January, and according to Turkish outlet Milliyet the Black Eagles are keen on turning his temporary move permanent in the summer.
Fanatik claim that Everton could be willing to sanction Tosun’s permanent exit, with Canadian striker Larin moving in the opposite direction.
Larin has been in impressive goalscoring form for Besiktas this season, scoring 15 times in all competitions, 12 of which have come in the Super Lig.
Everton have been forced to rely on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goals this season, and the former Orlando City forward could be seen by the club as someone who can ease their star man’s burden.
Record speaks for itself
Whether Everton are able to qualify for European football ahead of next season or not, we definitely need further reinforcements up front.
Calvert-Lewin has done an excellent job so far this season having scored 13 goals in the Premier League, equally his tally from last season already. However we cannot completely rely on him with all our eggs in one basket.
The Blues need to enhance their options and with Moise Kean’s long-term future unclear, Larin could be someone who could give the club more options in attack.
It remains to be seen whether Besiktas want Cenk Tosun’s permanent return enough to sanction Larin’s sale, but Everton could look to exploit their interest in their former talisman if it means that they can land their man.
Tosun isn’t likely to return to the fold at Goodison Park, so it would be in the club’s best interests to engineer a swap deal that would deliver the Turkey international’s replacement on Merseyside.
In other Everton news, Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t believe Everton’s players should have any regret over their 3-1 loss to Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
