Injury blow as Yerry Mina set to miss three to four weeks for Everton
Everton have suffered a fresh injury blow as Yerry Mina is now set to miss between three and four weeks for Everton.
The Columbian centreback hobbled off in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City midweek and is now out for a number of weeks.
Mina will certainly miss the Merseyside derby this weekend with Liverpool. He will also be out of the upcoming clashes with Southampton and West Brom.
It’s a tough blow for Ancelotti, who has had to deal with several injuries over the past few months to key squad members. Allan hasn’t featured since mid-December, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lucas Digne have been in and out of the squad.
Not all doom and gloom
All things considered, Ancelotti has actually done very well this season given the injury issues he’s faced.
The Toffees are still in with a shout for the European places. We can move level on points with Liverpool with a win at Anfield.
Everton have won just once in the last five league games. We’ve hit a rough patch but Ancelotti need not be concerned.
Mina’s injury gives Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey opportunities to step up. All three have been excellent this season.
Everton have got a really good run of games coming up. After Liverpool, five of the next six league games are against opposition in the bottom half of the table.
We face Southampton, West Brom, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brighton between now and April 10. The derby at the weekend is the perfect match to begin building momentum for these games, and push on for Europe.
In other Everton news, Ancelotti responds to rumours of James being unsettled.
