Campbell: Ancelotti is ahead of schedule with Everton project – Exclusive

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell insists Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is ahead of schedule in terms of the project that is being built at the club.

The Blues are fighting at the top end of the Premier League table this season and a new stadium is on the horizon for a club who are very much on the up.

The former Toffees captain claims trophies are far from guaranteed for Everton but Ancelotti has become a key part of the club’s future.

“Nothing guarantees trophies no matter which club you are at,” Campbell told Goodison News.

“The thing is, year on year Everton have to start building something, that’s why they went and got Ancelotti.

“When the new stadium is done you’ve got a team that can go in there and compete, that’s the key.

“There is no point having a beautiful stadium if your team is struggling so that’s the project and Ancelotti is ahead of schedule.”

Ancelotti masterminded a historic victory at Anfield on Saturday night as he became the first Everton boss to win an away derby for 22 years.

This mental barrier was finally broken and things are really looking up for Everton.

Our new stadium should be granted planning permission this week which is a huge step in the right direction as the club looks to grow.

We the best squad in a decade and one of the best managers in our history so there is every reason to be excited.

We also have the chance to win the FA Cup this season though overcoming Manchester City will prove to be very difficult.

With all of the positive changes at the club, a serious trophy hunt can’t be far away.
