‘That’s cheap’ – Exclusive: Campbell wants Everton to sign Aarons with price decided

Everton should rival Bayern Munich and try to sign Norwich defender Max Aarons, according to former Blues captain Kevin Campbell.

Sky Sports reported last week that Norwich are demanding between £30 and £35million for Aarons with Bayern Munich interested in the 21-year-old.

Campbell believes this fee represents value for money and he would love to see his former side make a move for the talented young defender.

Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “If that’s the going rate then you have to meet it. If you want the player then you’re going to have to meet that.

“When you invest that kind of money, you need that player to stay at the club for realistically six to 10 years.

“You can see Max Aarons could be one of those players. There’s a longevity thing there. He’s a quality player who can be a stalwart at your club.

“If he’s there for 10 years and you’re paying £35million that’s £3.5million a year, that’s cheap.”

Aarons is a talented prospect and we need a long-term Seamus Coleman replacement.

If we are looking to spend big again in the summer then there are few better options than signing a new right-back with plenty of potential.

Bringing in Aarons for *only* £35million would be a great move but the defender may find a move to Germany too tempting to turn down.

Look at the other English stars who have thrived in Germany with Jaydon Sancho chief among them.

Then again, we have a legendary manager at our club so there are plenty of attractive options facing Aarons.

But as Campbell says, if we brought Aarons to the club as part of ‘the project’ then he could become an icon if he stays with us as we look to grow the club.

We really hope a move can be sorted out for this talented youngster.
