AC Milan set to rival Everton for signature of £30m-rated Max Aarons – report
Everton could face heavy competition in the summer battle for Max Aarons after interest from AC Milan emerged, according to MilanLive.
With Seamus Coleman’s advancing years and Jonjoe Kenny’s inability to establish himself in the Blues starting XI, attention has turned to who Marcel Brands will bring in during the summer to solve a problem position on the right of defence.
Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey have both been trialled there to varying degrees of success, but reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano recently detailed on the Here We Go Podcast that Everton were working on a deal to bring the Norwich City defender in, with the Championship side set to demand at least £30million for his services.
However they could be set to battle it out with Milan as according to MilanLive the Italian giants have been targeting Aarons for ‘some time’ with their interest surging after being left unconvinced by the displays of Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot this season.
It is reported that technical director Paolo Maldini has been making repeated checks on Aaron’s progress recently.
Blues can point to Godfrey
Despite this news we should still be firm favorites to land Aarons.
Milan are not the football juggernaut that they once were and we could lay claim to have the advantage over them in financial terms and in our vision.
Despite a recent upturn in from they have been in disarray for some time now and would not be able to match the finances on offer at Goodison Park.
But perhaps more pertinent is the vision of Carlo Ancelotti and how he is helping to reassert ourselves as a credible European challenger.
He has done this by assembling a squad blended of experience and youth, and despite bringing James Rodriguez to the club last summer, perhaps the best Blues move was signing Ben Godfrey from Norwich.
Godfrey has been an utter revelation on Merseyside this season and Aarons can take great inspiration from his success so far.
And how enticing it would be for him to link up with his old teammate on the right hand side of the Everton defence.
