Jamie Redknapp: Red-hot Everton form shows Richarlison can be one of Europe’s best
Jamie Redknapp has backed Richarlison to be one of the best strikers in Europe after his impressive recent goalscoring form for Everton.
The Brazilian endured a slow start to the season in front of goal while his striker partner Dominic Calvert-Lewin took the plaudits.
But he has come roaring back to form with five goals in his last five games going into Thursday’s clash with West Brom.
Redknapp was firm in his response after being asked on Sky Sports [17:45, 04/03/22] whether Richarlison can be one of the top centre-forwards in Europe.
“Yeah I do, I really do, he’s only 23 years of age as well”, he said.
“Go try and find someone with that ability, the goals he gets.
“I think early in the season, I remember thinking has he had his nose put out of joint by how well Calvert-Lewin is doing?
“But right now he’s in red-hot form.
“He’s great in the air, he’s a superb athlete, just a phenomenal player.”
Our Brazilian boy on the rise to greatness
Under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti we don’t see any reason why Richarlison cannot achieve this aim.
He has all the key ingredients – pace, power and tenacity.
It has just been about getting the ball in the back of the net.
Now that he has fixed that issue we think he is destined for stardom.
To be considered among Europe’s elite you need to be playing regular European football, ideally in the Champions League.
Helping the Blues into the competition and scoring goals there will earn Richarlison the accolades he craves.
We have a great chance to achieve that this season, now our number seven just needs to keep up his impressive recent strike-rate to drag us over the line and cement himself among the best.
