Ancelotti: ‘Really high’ Everton spirit cannot be improved

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he already considers Everton to be ‘his team’, while he also praised the club’s ‘really high’ team spirit.

Having their last three Premier League games on the spin, the Blues have picked up a little bit of late season form, propelling them within touching distance of the top four.

The Toffees are just one point away from fourth placed Chelsea in the table with a game in hand, and they are set to face Thomas Tuchel’s men at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Speaking ahead of that crucial clash in southwest London, Ancelotti (via evertonfc.com) revealed his pride in his club’s players, saying: “First of all, I am really happy to be the manager of this team and these players.

“This is my team. Everton is my team.

“I feel these players follow me. They have a lot of respect for my idea. Of course, we would like to play better – I am not the only one who would like to play better, also the players wants to play better.

“I think we have to improve the technical quality of the squad. But what we cannot improve is the spirit of this team, which is really, really high. I am really pleased to have this kind of quality in my team.”

Music to our ears

When Marco Silva was sacked in early December 2019, it’s hard to imagine that any Everton fan thought we’d be in this position just 15 months later.

Unbeaten in nine away games and just one point from fourth, Everton are in a very strong place, and we’ve got a born winner at the helm guiding the ship.

It’ll never not be surreal hearing someone of Ancelotti’s calibre call Everton ‘[his] club’, but it’s true. Ancelotti seemingly has bought into the club, the project and the fanbase in a way we all hoped but never truly thought he would.

Whether the Blues reach the Champions League or not this season, every sign on Merseyside points to Everton heading in the right direction, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be onboard.

In other Everton news, Jamie Redknapp believes Richarlison’s recent run of form shows that he can be one of the best forwards in Europe.
