‘Killed us’, ‘Absolutely woeful’ – Everton Super Fans dissect ‘Abysmal’ Burnley loss

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.

Everton struggled at home again on Saturday evening as Burnley cruised to a 2-1 victory against a well below par Toffees side.

Chris Wood and Dwight McNeil did the damage for the visitors before Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored what proved to be a mere consolation.

To make matters even worse, Jordan Pickford went off injured in the first half as he was replaced by debutant Joao Virginia.

This result was a serious blow to our hopes of finishing in the top four and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

It was another lacklustre performance at home and if Burnley were more clinical they could’ve been three up before we even had a sight of goal.

Far be it from us to criticise Carlo Ancelotti but some of his decisions were baffling and it has now been proved once and for all that Mason Holgate isn’t good enough to play as a full back.

We asked our Everton Super Fans what they thought of the match and be warned, they had plenty to say…

We simply must do better against these poorer sides as these results negate all the good work we did to get wins over teams like Liverpool and Tottenham.

It was a gutting result and it doesn’t get any easier for us with Manchester City next up in the FA Cup.

Hopefully we at least see an improved performance after Saturday’s shambles.
