Ancelotti looks to Tottenham’s Reguillon amid interest in Everton ace Digne – report

Everton are prepared to sell Lucas Digne this summer in order to sign Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon, according to El Gol Digital.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to be an admirer of the Spanish full-back, who joined Spurs from Real Madrid last summer, and he’d be willing to sell Digne in order to finance a move.

The 27-year old joined Everton in the summer of 2018 for around £18million [BBC Sport] from Barcelona, and he quickly settled into the vacant shoes of former left-back stalwart Leighton Baines.

However El Gol Digital now report that the Toffees are prepared to sanction the sale of Digne to Atletico Madrid for around £25.8million (€30million) in order to green light their move for Reguilon.

The Blues aren’t prepared to have two top class left-backs on the bench at any one time and Ancelotti has his sights set on bringing Reguilon to Goodison Park.

Everton

Unbelievable

Well, we’re absolutely not having any of this whatsoever.

Lucas Digne has become such an important player for Everton over the past few seasons, and his domestic form has seen him become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

Not for one second could we even entertain the thought that the Blues would be looking to get rid of someone so talented and so influential only to replace them with someone younger but far less useful.

Granted we believe that Reguilon is a talented player, and he would be exactly the type of player that we’d like to see Everton pursue if they didn’t already have a supremely talented left-back who doesn’t need replacing.

Even if we were to consider for a moment that Everton somehow came to the conclusion that Digne had to go, he would also command a fee much higher than the £25.8million suggested, which is ludicrously low.

They say that you should never rule anything out in football because it’s an unpredictable game, but nothing about this story appears to make any logical sense as far as we’re concerned.

In other Everton news, Ancelotti remains confident that JP Gbamin could play for the Blues this season.
