Exclusive: Kevin Campbell urges Everton to move for Koulibaly amid links
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell insists the potential singing of Kalidou Koulibaly would show that Everton mean business as the club looks to grow.
Football Insider are reporting that Everton have set their sights on signing the defender this summer with Carlo Ancelotti looking for a world-class centre back to boost his defence.
Campbell hailed Koulibaly as ‘world class’ and it is clear the former Blue is a huge fan of the Napoli centre half.
“Now that would be a brilliant signing,” Campbell exclusively told Goodison News.
“He’s got the athleticism, he’s good on the ball, he’s tough and he’s got a great mentality.
“He’s a world-class defender and if Everton get him in, you know they’re going to be a very serious side in the years to come. He’s unreal.”
We can’t help but agree.
Koulibaly has been linked with some top sides in recent years as it would be a James Rodriguez-like signing if we brought him in.
Recent games have proved that we need to boost the defence this summer.
We need a Seamus Coleman replacement and we also need better options at centre back.
Michael Keane has been nothing short of outstanding this season while Yerry Mina has had plenty of off days.
Ben Godfrey looks to be a great talent but he’s spent much of his time playing on the flank to cover our injured players.
A new centre back is needed if we are to consistently challenge for the top four and Koulibaly is certainly one of the best options out there.
In other Everton news, Ancelotti is ‘intent’ on signing Robin Olsen on a permanent basis this summer.
