‘Future captain’, ‘Outstanding’, ‘By a country mile’ – Super Fans pick Everton POTY so far
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.
Though there are still plenty of games to go before the end of the Premier League campaign it is still acceptable to look at who may end up being our player of the season.
This season will be judged as a success by some no matter where we finish though missing out on European football would no doubt annoy some sections of the fanbase.
There have been plenty of really good performers throughout the season and there are some players who won’t even be considered for the award.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goals will have him near the top of the list while the impressive Michael Keane is also in with a shout.
James Rodriguez is bound to be up there simply because he is James Rodriguez while Allan has been so important in the heart of the midfield.
It’s a tricky question to answer so we posed it to our panel of Everton Super Fans and this is who they picked as their player of the season so far.

Ben Godfrey has won plenty of plaudits this season and rightly so.
The natural centre half made his debut at right back, replacing Seamus Coleman in the first Merseyside derby of the season and he hasn’t looked back.
Whether it has been in the middle or at the back, Godfrey has been a rock in our defence and his versatility served us well as we suffered our defensive injury crisis.
As one of our Super Fans suggested, we think there is a future Everton captain in there.
If Carlo Ancelotti wants to build his defence around someone for the next few years there are few better options than Godfrey.
What a season he’s had.
In other Everton news, Ancelotti is ‘intent’ on signing Robin Olsen on a permanent basis this summer.
