Everton make offer for Ozan Tufan but face battle with four other clubs for his signature
Everton have submitted an offer to Fenerbahce to sign Ozan Tufan, according to Turkish outlet Ajansspor.
The report suggests Fenerbahce think the midfielder will increase his transfer value at the Euros this summer and aim to get €20million [£17m] for him.
Alongside the Toffees, Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Leicester City have made offers, as well as Werder Bremen and Real Sociedad.
Also, Fanatik report Liverpool are scouting the 26-year-old, who has been in good form this season with five goals and six assists.
Big gamble
There is plenty to like about Tufan but he would also be a risky signing to add in the summer.
Per The Sun, the midfielder has been likened to Yaya Toure due to the energy he brings to the middle of the park, and Tufan has proved to be an important star for club and country.
He bossed Turkey’s 3-0 win over Norway last Saturday and recorded a SofaScore rating of 8.7 after scoring twice and recording one key pass.
That shows he can perform at the highest level, but his lack of experience outside Turkey is a concern for us.
He has never played outside of his home nation so may not be the right option for us right now.
We are aiming to make the Champions League this term and failing that should at least qualify for the Europa League.
Tufan, however, has never kicked a ball in Europe’s elite competition and has just 12 Europa League appearances to boast of.
We already have proven players in midfield like Allan and Andre Gomes, so we should sign players with their type of pedigree in order to take Everton to the next level.
In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano claims the Toffees are in the hunt for a 14-goal striker.
