Everton show most interest in Daryl Dike, half of Premier League have scouted – report
Everton have shown the most interest in Barnsley loanee Daryl Dike when scouting this season, according to teamTALK.
The American international is currently on loan at Oakwell from MLS side Orlando City and has been scouted by half of the Premier League so far.
Barnsley are said to have the option to sign Dike permanently at the end of the season, but the £17million fee could only be possible should they earn promotion from the Championship.
The next step is reportedly for Everton to decide whether they want to make an official offer for the American international in the coming months.
Dike has only started eight games in the Championship this season, but he has already managed to find the back of the net five times.
Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael labelled Dike as “unbelievable” recently after winning the club’s goal of the month, as well as player of the month for March.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Leeds are also credited with interest, but it appears as though Everton are leading the race.
Ideal.
There has obviously always been a clear hole in the squad behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Cenk Tosun and others having tried and failed to offer suitable cover.
Much will depend on the future of Moise Kean, and whether or not the Italian will try again in Merseyside, or will seal a permanent move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Ancelotti clearly favours Calvert-Lewin, and it is smart to build this side around the England international moving forward.
The Toffees need younger players who are determined to provide suitable competition which can push Calvert-Lewin forward, and also offer danger from the bench when needed.
This is one to watch.
