Finance expert Kieran Maguire thinks Moshiri will want new stadium ready for 2024

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes Farhad Moshiri will be eager to have the new Everton stadium ready for the 2024/25 season.

European football could look different from that season onwards as proposals are in place to revamp the format of the Champions League.

A vote will take place to decide whether an expansion to 36 teams should take place – granting England an extra qualifying place.

It would also mean extra home games for the teams involved as sides would play a minimum of ten games, rather than six.

Talking about the new stadium and the proposed changes, Maguire told the Liverpool Echo, “You have the increased capacity itself which is a step up.

“That will start to improve revenues but the most important thing for Everton and Farhad Moshiri in terms of making this work is getting European football.

“If Mr Moshiri continues to fund the club to the extent that he has done then Everton could actually be in a perfect storm.

“If they get into the top four in 2023/24, qualify for this revamped Champions League and move into Bramley Moore Dock in 2024, a new stadium that has got all these extra things and five or 10 home games from European football then it could be very lucrative.

“For Everton that would be absolutely perfect and I suspect that is at the back of Mr Moshiri’s mind and that he’ll be trying to get the stadium moving ASAP.”

Race against time

There is plenty to be excited about in regard to Bramley Moore Dock and the sooner the new stadium is ready, the better.

It will bring extra income to the club and establish us as a top Premier League club.

Prior to 2024, we have a chance of building our reputation on the pitch by qualifying for the Champions League.

Under Carlo Ancelotti we have started to build closer to that goal but must maintain our improvement across multiple seasons – particularly if we miss out on the top four this year.

2024 will roll around very quickly and we must be in a position on the pitch to take advantage of our move.

Tottenham are the obvious club to emulate – they had an established squad and manager in place for their 2019 move and even made the Champions League final a few months later.

As a club they are no bigger than us so with good management at all levels of the club there is no reason why we cannot replicate their success.

In other Everton news, a report has claimed that the Toffees could be involved in a potential swap deal involving Moise Kean.
