Palace set to welcome Mitchell back from injury for Everton clash
Crystal Palace will welcome back Tyrick Mitchell for their clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night after a period of games without the young defender.
Mitchell, 21, has made 13 first-team appearances for Palace this season, starting and finishing each of those outings.
His campaign has been blighted by injuries though which is why he has struggled to put a run of games together.
Roy Hodgson gave an update on his squad on Thursday in which he stated Mitchell would be the only returning player to his squad.
Hodgson told the official Palace site, “I think the only player we’re likely to get back is Tyrick Mitchell, although we’re still assessing James McCarthy and Nathaniel Clyne.”
This will no doubt come as a boost to the Eagles as their squad has been hit harder than most by injuries in this compact season.
Everton have struggled against sides with quick full-backs this term and Mitchell made a good account of himself when we won at Selhurst Park earlier this season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in that game and he’ll be looking to get back on the scoresheet after netting while on England duty.
We face a tough end to the season and at this stage, there are no easy games.
A European finish is entirely possible but we need to be beating sides like Crystal Palace to keep us in contention.
These are the games where we usually throw away all hopes of a good finish and when we look back on the season we think, ‘if only we’d beaten Palalce’.
That can’t be allowed to happen this year but it will be a challenge to keep the Eagles out with Wilfried Zaha is fully fit and Mitchell will be running the line with him.
Hopefully whoever starts in goal will be up to the challenge as we await news on the extent of Jordan Pickford’s recent blow.
In other Everton news, Kevin Campbell is loving the form of this Blues youngster.
