Report: Everton must pay £12.7m for Larin

Besiktas will rebuff an attempt from Everton to offer Cenk Tosun in a player-plus-cash offer for striker Cyle Larin, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac.

It was reported in February that Everton were considering a player swap in order to sign the Canada international, with Fanatik claiming that Cenk Tosun would be offered to the Black Eagles in exchange.

The former Besiktas forward rejoined the Istanbul based Super Lig outfit in January on loan until the end of the season, having fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

However according to Fotomac Besiktas won’t consider Everton’s proposal this summer, while they also wouldn’t accept less than £12.7million (€15million) for the in-form Larin, who has scored 18 times in all competitions this season. [Transfermarkt]

Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be in the market for competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin next season, but he may now be forced to look elsewhere as he prepares his squad for another important season ahead.

Right idea

Cyle Larin is just the latest young and exciting forward to find himself linked with a move to Merseyside, following recent reports linking the club with Sasa Kalajdzic, Igor Jesus and Daryl Dike.

Ancelotti has clearly expressed his desire to add to Everton’s attacking options ahead of next season, with Calvert-Lewin unfortunately often forced to shoulder the sole goalscoring burden throughout the current campaign.

Though Besiktas appear hesitant to let Larin go when the transfer window reopens, Everton’s ambition to sign someone so young and full of confidence does bode well going forward.

Last summer Ancelotti spent much of Everton’s transfer budget signing experience players who would immediately improve the squad. Allan and James Rodriguez certainly did that, but their introductions made the future of the club unclear.

Ancelotti now needs to balance the experience with developing future talent that can grow and become vital players for the club, and players like Larin certainly fit the mould.

If Everton fail in their player-plus-cash proposal they could always test Besiktas’ resolve with a straight-cash offer, but if not it is at the very least a huge positive to see that Ancelotti’s thoughts and ambitions are in the right place.

In other Everton news, Everton reportedly make move for 20y/o forward available for £8.5m.
