Everton Women Expert: Everton display v Brighton was ‘absolutely superb’
We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.
Everton Women romped to a comfortable victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League last weekend.
Having won their last four games in a row, the Seagulls would have been confident going into their clash against Everton, however the Blues would go on to comfortably win 5-0 at the Broadfield Stadium.
With just four games remaining for the Toffees in the WSL, Willie Kirk’s side will hope to finish the season strong as they move closer to the top four.
Talking exclusively to Goodison News, MacFarlane hailed Everton’s “complete” performance against Brighton, claiming that the challenge now will be maintaining that level of performance for the remainder of the season.
MacFarlane said: “Brighton were on a great run of form in the lead up to our game, so it had the potential to be a really tough encounter, but our performance was absolutely superb from start to finish.
“Everything just clicked. We looked like scoring every time we went forward and our back line were so comfortable and dealt with everything that came their way, it really was the complete performance.
“The challenge now is for us to keep up that level for the remaining games but the players are more than capable of doing that.
“Consistency is something we have struggled with this season, not helped by a number of injuries and a stop/start season, but the majority of the players are fighting fit now and that competition for places means there is a real challenge to perform when given a chance.
“Every player will want to give their all for the remaining fixtures and the result last week will give everyone a huge lift.”
