Gary Neville savages Everton star Richarlison v Crystal Palace
Gary Neville has savaged Everton forward Richarlison for his performance in the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Monday.
The Brazilian decided to step in and steal a free-kick opportunity from Lucas Digne and Gylfi Sigurdsson, only managing to fire it high and wide.
Neville insisted that it only highlighted the selfishness of the striker, who shouldn’t have ever taken that dead-ball chance from his more capable teammates.
Speaking during the half-time break on Sky Sports, Neville wasn’t impressed with the greedy nature of Richarlison’s game at Goodison Park.
“I don’t like it,” he said.
“I never have liked it. Especially when he isn’t down to take free-kicks, which he obviously isn’t as Digne was telling him that.
“There is an element of selfishness to it, I’m not in the mood.”
Regret.
Richarlison won’t have been best pleased with his finishing this evening and will have been ready to make up for it on any occasion.
Should the South American already have scored, he would likely have been less eager to get himself on the set-piece and make amends.
The terrible finishing of himself and Dominic Calvert-Lewin was punished in the end, despite James Rodriguez firing home the opener.
Michy Batshuayi scored the equaliser minutes from the final whistle, despite the home side missing far too many chances; it wasn’t good enough.
