Jermaine Beckford wowed by Seamus Coleman at HT of Everton clash v Palace

Jermaine Beckford was blown away by the first-half performance of Everton defender Seamus Coleman against Crystal Palace on Monday.

The Toffees went into the break goalless at Goodison Park, but it wasn’t for the want of trying with plenty of chances going begging.

Coleman created many of those down the right-hand side, and Beckford labelled his deliveries as “beautiful” at times for the likes of Richarlison.

Speaking for the BBC during their live radio coverage of the game, the former Toffees forward was thrilled by the work of the Irishman.

“Brilliant from Seamus Coleman on the right-wing,” he said.

“He picked out a beautiful ball but Richarlison got underneath it.”

Not good enough.

How many times have we dominated at home this season, not put our chances away and ended up throwing away points towards the end?

Richarlison was the guilty party in the opening 45 minutes this evening and could have got himself a hat-trick if he brought his shooting boots along with him.

The Brazilian missed the header from Coleman’s exquisite cross, and also squandered a couple of one-on-ones with poor finishing.

Calvert-Lewin wasn’t much better, and it will be frustrating to the likes of Coleman, who have done their job perfectly by putting it on a plate; he can’t do much more.

We have been without a right-back for much of this Premier League season, and it is amazing to see Coleman back at his best in Merseyside.
