‘What a big coup’ – Exclusive: Kevin Campbell hails Ancelotti’s pull after Everton transfer news
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell claims the lure of working with Carlo Ancelotti could lead to big-name players joining Everton after an update on Kalidou Koulibaly’s future.
Koulibaly’s name has been mentioned in relation to Everton by a few outlets in the last few weeks ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed that Koulibaly ‘would be interested’ in a reunion with Ancelotti.
When asked if Koulibaly would be a welcome addition on Merseyside, Campbell told Goodison News, “Without a shadow of a doubt, for the Blue side of Merseyside,”
“This is the type of thing that happens when you have a manager like Carlo Ancelotti.
“Players love to play for him, players tend to follow him if he’s interested in them because they know what they’re going to get.
“What a big coup that would be, to get someone of Koulibaly’s stature to Everton, that would be brilliant.”
The signing of Koulibaly would be a James Rodriguez-like coup if we managed to pull it off.
We’d be getting a player who can be world-class on his day and someone who has been linked to some of the biggest clubs in the world at various points of their career.
The main thing is that we’d be getting a quality player who will improve our leaky defence, all the rest is just circumstantial but there are reasons to be excited.
Ancelotti is a world-class manager with a world-class reputation and it no surprise to see a former player potentially wanting to work with him again.
We’re lucky to have him as the pool of players we can now attract compared to the Marco Silva and Sam Allardyce eras is uncomparable.
In other Everton news, scouts have been blown away by this international striker who’s playing in England.
