Calvert-Lewin takes blame for awful Everton performance v Crystal Palace
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has spoken out after his poor performance cost Everton a valuable three points during Monday’s clash with Crystal Palace.
Calvert-Lewin squandered a handful of chances in the game and he should’ve added at least a couple of goals to his personal tally.
The result wasn’t solely DCL’s fault but there is no denying that he could’ve changed the outcome of that match if he had his shooting boots on.
The Blues forward has recognised this as he took to social media to share his disappointment in his own performance on Monday night.
DCL tweeted, “Nowhere to hide this morning. I’m disappointed I didn’t take my chances yesterday. We learn and we move. A week to regroup and time to kick on next Monday.”
Our striker needs to find some form before next Monday as we can’t afford to miss that many chances if we are to finish in the European places this season.
Monday’s result was a massive blow.
Palace are not a good side and they have nothing to play for, we should’ve cruised past them.
On another night we would have, based on the amount of clear cut chances that we missed.
Ironically, James Rodriguez’s goal was one of the harder chances that fell to a player in Blue last night.
Richarlison also didn’t cover himself in glory but DCL’s decline in form is cause for concern as his early-season antics seem a lifetime ago now.
He is one of the main reasons that we are so high up the table and he needs to find the back of the net soon if we are to stay there.
At least he’s recognised that he needs to improve.
