Walcott set to exit Everton permanently, will join Southampton
Everton forward Theo Walcott will join Southampton on a permanent basis at the end of the season, according to talkSPORT.
The radio station reported on their Twitter account on Tuesday morning that Walcott, 32, will turn his loan stay at St Mary’s into a permanent deal in the summer.
Walcott started his professional career at Southampton but joined Everton in 2018 after a long spell at Arsenal.
Southampton re-signed the attacker on loan last summer and with his Toffees contract set to expire in the summer, he is now set to join the south coast club on a free transfer.
Bye-bye, Theo
It would be fair to say that Walcott didn’t meet expectations at Goodison Park.
The former Arsenal winger was constantly criticised by fans and his goal tally of 11 strikes in 85 total appearances says a lot about the loaned-out Blues man.
At Southampton, you can tell Walcott is at home.
While the Saints have struggled in the second half of this season, Walcott has still been in decent form for them, scoring two goals and supplying three assists in his 16 Premier League appearances back at St Mary’s.
We’ll be glad to see the back of Walcott permanently and we’re sure Southampton will be happy with their decision to sign him.
At the end of the day, Walcott wasn’t good enough at Goodison and he’ll turn 33-years-of-age towards the end of next season.
While we do have some ageing players at Everton, we don’t need to start dishing out contract extensions to the ones who are heading towards the exit doors and Walcott hasn’t done enough to show he’s worthy of an extra year on Merseyside.
In other Everton news, Liverpool have become a parody of themselves with their chairman blaming their Blues for their woes.
