Everton target Belotti considering summer exit from Torino
Everton target Andrea Belotti is seeking an exit from Serie A club Torino this summer, according to a report from Italy.
The Toffees were first linked with an interest in the 28-year old striker last week, with Corriere Granata claiming that Everton were one of many clubs across Europe looking at Belotti.
With Moise Kean’s long-term future currently unclear, Everton had looked at the Italy international as they bid to strengthen their options up front ahead of next season.
Now Corriere dello Sport have provided an update on Belotti’s situation in Turin, with the report claiming that he is considering moving clubs after six years with Torino.
The Bulls currently teeter just above the relegation zone in the Italian top flight, and Belotti is keen to consider a more ‘ambitious scenario’ when the transfer window opens this summer.
Torino have attempted to renew Belotti’s contract, with the Italian’s deal expiring in 2022, but the player has not yet accepted the club’s proposals.
Chance to capitalise
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has shouldered the burden of being Everton’s primary goalscorer this season, and after he failed to perform against Crystal Palace earlier this week, Everton’s need for further offensive options was accentuated.
The Blues cannot simply hope that Calvert-Lewin scores every week, they need to have a back-up who can challenge the England international to do better, as well as replace him when things aren’t going his way.
Having scored almost 100 goals in Serie A for Torino, Belotti has the goalscoring figures to suggest that he could be a valuable addition to Everton’s squad, should they decide to shore up interest.
Described by Torino boss Davide Nicola as ‘unique‘, Belotti could add a new dimension to Everton’s attack, having previously drawn comparisons to Italian great Gianluca Vialli.
Should Everton qualify for Europe ahead of next season they’ll need to add depth and quality to their front line, and Belotti could be just the player that they need.
