Carlo Ancelotti wants Everton to sign Rabiot ‘immediately’ – report
Everton remain interested in signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, with a new report claiming Carlo Ancelotti wants him ‘immediately’.
The Toffees have been frequently linked with a move for the France international over the past few months, with Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini reiterating the club’s desire last week.
Il Bianconeri explain that Rabiot is considered ‘transferable’ by Juventus this summer, with the defending Serie A champions wanting £25.9million (€30m) for his signature.
Though Juventus consider Rabiot to be someone who could leave the Allianz Stadium this summer, the 26-year old’s frequent playing time for the Turin giants indicates that the club aren’t desperate to force him out.
Rabiot has played 37 times in all competitions for Andrea Pirlo’s side this season, having started and played the duration against Napoli in Serie A earlier this week.
Il Bianconeri claim that Juventus ‘know’ Ancelotti’s stance regarding Everton’s interest in Rabiot, though it isn’t clear whether the Toffees would be put off by Juventus’ asking price.
Where there’s smoke…
There has been so much speculation linking Everton with a move for Rabiot this summer that it appears to be an inevitability at this point.
This exact scenario played out little over a year ago with Allan, who had been near-constantly linked as far back as the New Year before moving to Merseyside in the summer.
With Jean-Philippe Gbamin now back fit and ready to contribute though, it remains to be seen how an uptick in his personal form could impact Ancelotti’s summer spending plans.
For some time now it has seemed as though a new midfielder was on the Italian’s agenda, particularly with the uncertainty surrounding Fabian Delph’s long-term future, but it is now even more unclear how Gbamin’s return changes things.
Rabiot, who has been described by Pirlo as a ‘complete player’, was promoted to the first-team at Paris Saint-Germain under Ancelotti, so the Everton boss has history with the Frenchman, and perhaps his dogged pursuit of him comes down to Ancelotti wishing to shape his squad to his own specifications.
This definitely appears to be a situation worth keeping an eye on as the weeks go by.
