Kevin Campbell believes Everton forward Kean will seek PSG stay
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell doesn’t see Moise Kean returning to Everton this summer after enjoying a successful loan spell with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Italy international joined the French champions last summer on a season-long loan after having fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park.
Kean has been in fine form for the Parisians this season, scoring 15 goals in 31 appearances compared to just two goals scored in 33 games for Everton last season.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said: “I think with Moise Kean, I’m sure he’ll want to stay in Paris.
“He’s found his feet there, he’s scoring goals there, and he hasn’t worked out for Everton at the moment.
“I’m sure PSG will be looking at him and saying, ‘we might as well keep this guy, let’s sign him because he’s scoring for fun.’
“So Everton might even make a little profit on him, you never know.”
Inevitable conclusion
Campbell is right to doubt that Kean would consider coming back to Everton this summer, particularly given just how much success he has enjoyed at the Parc des Princes.
The Italian forward was never able to settle in the Premier League, and quite whether that was down to the coaching or simply due to the physical demands of the league is unclear.
Either way he never seemed comfortable playing for Everton, he was a shadow of the player the Blues bought from Juventus, and he’s shown his true colours for PSG this season.
It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for him to return to Merseyside now, especially considering how much transfer attention he could be set to receive.
Still just 21-years old however, the Toffees could certainly expect to earn a healthy profit on the man that they paid £25.1million to sign in 2019.
Ultimately we’ll have to wait and see, but we’d be surprised to see him turn out in Everton’s royal blue next season.
