Athletic: Aaron Ramsey looks set to stay at Juventus amid Everton swap report

It doesn’t look like Aaron Ramsey will be joining Everton in the summer after the former Arsenal man claims he’s had “no indication” that Juventus want to sell him.

That report came from The Athletic. The report said that while Juventus need to sell players, Andre Pirlo is a fan of Ramsey and he still has two years left to run on his €7.5 million a year [£125,000 a week] deal.

Tuttosport had reported that the Wales international could be used in a potential swap deal for Moise Kean.

The same outlet suggests Adrien Rabiot is another player who could be used in any potential deal, and it seems he is now a more realistic option for the Toffees than Ramsey.

Opportunity missed

Ramsey has had mixed success in Turin but there is little doubt he would be an improvement on our current options, so this is a blow.

The 30-year-old has two goals and four assists in just 12 league starts this term and an impressive 1.5 key passes per game, according to WhoScored.

Wales teammate Ben Davies described Ramsey as “world-class”, suggesting his creativity and forward drive would boost any side [BBC].

The former Arsenal man has a wide range of attributes that would have made him a good fit at Goodison, and Davies is not his only fan.

Everton

Cesc Fabregas, who played with Ramsey at Arsenal, spoke about how his former teammate performs in big games.

He said on BT Sport, via Wales Online, “The job Ramsey did on Jorginho at the game at the Emirates was sensational, the work-rate, he is the type of player you hate to play against, because he comes out of nowhere.”

Ramsey is the type of box-to-box midfielder we have been crying out for.

Tom Davies, Allan, Andre Gomes and Gylfi Sigurdsson have just four league goals between them, per WhoScored.

We lack a goal threat from deep and are too dependent on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and James Rodriguez.

When they hit a dip in form, or unavailable, we struggle, and that must be remedied in the transfer window – even if Ramsey is not to be signed.
